Partnership @ WORK is a new program that aims to establish a long-term partnership between German and Serbian economic high schools. The program is being funded jointly by the American and the German governments and managed by the Institute for Sustainable Communities and the European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) in cooperation with the German Organization for Technical Assistance GTZ.

The project assists Serbian high schools in finding a corresponding partner school in Germany and co-funds an initial 7-day-trip for 30 economic high schools to that school. The program will support 24 students and 2 teachers per school, as well as the school principal to visit Germany. Thirty German high schools will also visit Serbia as part of the program. Ten school partnerships have already been established, while an open competition will match another twenty economic schools so that they can begin cooperation.

In total, more than 1000 third-year high school students from Serbia and Germany will be involved in the program, providing all participants an exceptional opportunity to meet, exchange knowledge and experiences and develop new relations. Greater mobility of the educational staff facilitates learning from colleagues in other countries, and creates an opportunity to work together in developing new educational methods and approaches.

This program will help establish long-term relationships between high schools in Serbia and Germany, thereby contributing to stronger relations across Europe and, ultimately, the acceleration of Serbia’s European integration. It will also help encourage continued reform of Serbia’s education system.
